Admissions 2004/2005

We aim to offer three terms of part-time nursery education before the start of full-time schooling. Admissions may be varied locally to take account of the demand for nursery places. Nursery admissions will generally follow the birth date pattern below.

Date of 4th birthday (inclusive) Term of admission
1 September to 29 February Autumn (September)
1 March to 31 August Spring (January)

Nursery staff may visit children registered for nursery prior to their entry. We stagger the admission of children so that staff can make sure the children are settled into the new environment. The head teacher will offer a morning or afternoon place by the half-term before the date of admission. Children are required to attend either five mornings or five afternoons per week.

Children are admitted to school:

• in September if they are 5 between 1 September and
29 February
• in January if they are 5 between 1 March and 31 August

The closing date for applications for reception classes is the first school day on or after 1 December before the school year in which your child would be starting school.

Registrations received after this time will only be dealt with once the applications which arrived on time have been considered. Late registration may severely reduce your child’s chance of getting a place at your preferred school.

If you are considering applying for a place for a child who has not attended our nursery please ring for an appointment to look round school.

We will offer places in the community and Church of England controlled school to children in the following order of priority:

1 Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which names the school.

2 Children in public care.

3 Children living in the school’s proirity admission area who have an older brother or sister attending from the same address at the date of admission.

4 Other children living in the school’s priority admission area.

5 Children who live outside the priority area who have an older brother or sister attending from the same address at the time of admission.

6 Children who live outside the priority area.

Notes
a ‘Live’ refers to the child’s permanent home at the date of admission.
b If within any one of the priorities mentioned above there are more applicants than remaining places, admission will be offered to the children living nearer to the school, measured in a straight line.

The school’s planned admission limit for each year group is 81.

Please note there is not longer a guaranteed place for any child in any of the priorities at any key stage.

If you should wish to look around the school, prior to registering your child, you would be most welcome. Please make an appointment with the School.
