Wecome to our website. We hope it will be helpful for finding out about the people who are connected with us in many different ways. It explains how the school is organised and tells you what happens to your children when they come each day.
Rawthorpe is a large school and we have a total of 206 children on roll.
In our Early Years unit we have 53 children. The unit consists of a part-time nursery with places for a maximum of 60 children,
36 mornings and 24 afternoons, and a reception unit, which can hold up to a maximum of 81 children. The unit has a very committed staff who work and plan together. This ensures children develop in a caring, family atmosphere, where each child is valued as an individual.
The children move from the Early Years into Key Stage 1. In this next stage of the children’s education they are divided into 4 classes and at the present time we have 2 classes of year 1 children, 2 classes of year 2 children. Because of the number of children in school it may be necessary at certain times to have two age groups in one class. Our curriculum takes into account mixed age group classes and our ethos ensures that all our children develop to their full potential.
We also have a resourced provision for children who have physical disabilities, Many of the children travel to school from areas within Kirklees. We have a number of extra resources to support the varying needs of our children and work closely with many agencies who provide help and support.
The school building has recently undergone many changes resulting in much improved accommodation which will help to ensure maximum opportunities for the children. The project which has enabled the work to take place is a partnership between Kirklees and Jarvis, and has involved the three Rawthorpe Schools.
As a Church School we have strong links with the Church, which adds an important dimension to the life of the school.
We hope you will choose to visit us and see whether we might meet the needs of your children. Appointments can be arranged by popping into the school office or by phone. We aim to send your child home looking forward to the next day with enthusiasm and anticipation. We work hard to ensure that school is an exciting place, where children can achieve new goals, learn new things and make new friends.
